The Story Studio’s 6-session storytelling workshop, taught by Kevin Allison, provides students with an encouraging, constructive environment in which to practice storytelling each week and receive feedback from their instructor and peers. Exercises in class focus on classic story structuring, building suspense, eliciting emotion, recreating drama, digging deeper into a story’s meaning, and using your voice and body to add levels to your listeners’ experience, so that your story stays with them. In this workshop, participants apply the principles of compelling storytelling to communicate more effectively on the job. Brief lectures and hands-on exercises focus on bringing an emotionally resonant arc to brand biographies, personal anecdotes for professional networking, and vision-into-action stories.
In one day, participants will get a chance to share and receive feedback on one short story of their choosing. The instructor confers with each student via email prior to the day of the workshop to help the student prepare appropriate story content to workshop.

REFUND POLICY FOR ALL WORKSHOPS/LESSONS:
Once a place in a workshop has been purchased, no refund will be offered. Credit for a Story Studio workshop or lesson never expires and can be transferred to someone else with advance written notice to and approval from jc@thestorystudio.org If a student purchases a place in a workshop/lesson and needs to reschedule, he/she can do so for any upcoming workshop/lesson of equal value. Credit can also be used to attend combinations of workshops/lessons of lesser value until all credit is used, or to attend a workshop/lesson of greater value, provided that student pays the remainder of the course cost before enrolling.
